Parents say 57 Kids say Teen, 16 years old Written by HintsEverything February 25, Don't let anyone younger than 18 use it People could find other people Via YouTube, Instagram, anything and contact complete strangers and those strangers will have your real name. I don't like that. I believe in the paranormal, a lot of kids do, and people portraying that have Kik, and want you to contact them. Their is a guy living in California that if you want to be a vampire, you have to go live with him in California.
I almost fell for that. I blocked him. This review Helped me decide. Had useful details. Read my mind. Report this review. Kid, 12 years old February 16, You can use terrible swearing words terrible sexaul words Kid, 12 years old February 14, One of my friends was on kik and a stranger ask them personal questions and send them weird photos.
So don't even bother to get this. This title contains: Sexy stuff. Teen, 14 years old Written by jurassickate February 7, However, when you start talking to people you don't know it can become a problem. They used to have "open chat" things where you could someone's chat by just using a hashtag, but that caused a lot of problems so they took it away. Just monitor who your kids are talking to and what they're talking about.
This title contains: Ease of Play. Teen, 13 years old Written by Kandeevereen December 15, Kandeevereen Love to play and love red. Kik is actually a good app.. Kik is actually a good site because you can't find anyone unless you look up specifically for that person's name.
You should still talk about sexting and stuff with your kid because it's easier to send sexts and dirty language since all you need is internet and most people have internet instead of having their phone turned on. Also another thing, you can have up to 50 people in a group chat and you can't stop it if you DO get added to a group chat. You can leave the chat, but they can keep adding you unless you block everyone in the chat. Also, there IS predators out there. You just need to make sure that the teenager you're talking to has some smarts and knows not to talk to strangers and meet with someone they don't know or something dangerous might happen.
Basically, it's just a faster app and it's more fun because it comes with games and stuff. They just need to know how to not be stupid about it. Really good app. Just don't be stupid and you'll be okay. Teen, 15 years old Written by fabichii October 5, But please just show your Kik in only private s that people who you know can see it and add you. If you can't do that, just don't make a kik that is a lot of risks.
Teen, 13 years old Written by Teenbeach2 October 5, Kik I think this is a good app. But I think, that this should be for Kids at least 15 and up. But, I really enjoy this app. Just read I don't have any title Guys stop blaming the app Kik is the safest app I have its not same the other apps its your fault that you don't check your kids iP or phones or what ever they have i have kik and I only talk to my family and friends and I block strangers I don't see strangers coming to my kik or chat with me just give any stranger block or don't let your kids download this app or remove the location on Kik If you dont feel safe of this app you can just delete it or just ask your child if any stranger talk to them or make new friends on kik this is the way you will know!
The one who made this app didn't think this bad way he might think of easy way to talk to your family and friends so stop blaming the app or anybody els! Teen, 14 years old Written by thecoolguy24 July 9, Good but be careful Kik is good for older teens but not young kids.
Teen, 17 years old Written by imkindoflame June 14, Okay so parents please stop. I am 16, almost turning 17, and I've had kik for about two years now. I was not greeted with pornographic pictures and no strangers contacted me. Only people who knew my username contacted me. If you're child is getting pornographic pictures from random strangers it's because THEY gave those strangers their username. As for the apps inside the app, simple; if your child respects you enough and you trust them enough to not go on those apps or use those apps responsibly then it's fine.
Please listen to me. You people are on this site because you care about your kids but also because you don't think you can trust them. Maybe if you trusted them a bit more and weren't a hover parent you're children wouldn't feel the need to download apps like kik, where messages can't be traced or found after they're deleted.
Teen, 14 years old Written by Levi. Jaeger May 3, And that conversation happened long after I made a kik . Now obviously that's still bad but it's not like this sort of thing happens EVERY time you open the app. In the event that your child were to have some random person start talking to them, they don't have to talk to them and can just block the person.
Overall, this app is really good. It serves it's purpose and has some cool features. Teen, 14 years old Written by Callie00 April 24, Shortly after I turned 13, I got a new smartphone, and I was ecstatic. And you'll see why When my parents gave me my phone, they told me that I shouldn't use any social networking except for Facebook and Youtube and no talking to strangers, and I assured them that I wouldn't. I was struggling fitting in and making friends and all. I felt very lonely.
And Kik was quite popular, so I decided to check it out. I would finally make new friends and nobody could judge me and everything would be anonymous. So I installed the app behind my parent's back. Guys threatening me to send them nude pics and cussing at me and girls bullying me and telling me that I was ugly and stupid and all that crap and so much drama. I had a lot of heartache. Then my parents found out about the app. I was so mortified and angry and sad. I'll never forgive myself. My parents were upset and shocked because it was the only bad thing I ever did. I was always a good girl.
I never went against their rules. Until THIS happened. The consequences were taking away my phone and monitoring everything I do on the internet and having talks with me about internet safety and all that stuff. So, parents and teens, I highly recommend not installing this app.
There's also a lot of news articles about young and impressionable teen girls installing this app and meeting new people. This resulted in kidnapping and rape and even murder. I think Kik should be banned. For reals. Teen, 14 years old Written by Palkiajack March 28, Great App If you want your child abducted by a predator Kik is a useful replacement for texting, I'll give it that. But Kik is, unfortunately, not safe. Fun fact: Kik is the one service for the trading of nude photos. Did you know that? Probably not. Kik if full of creeps and perverts.
Keep your child away from it. Common now First off, I barely text anyone with this app anymore but when I was younger 12,13 it used to be a lot of fun and a cool way to talk. It's not inappropriate for anyone 12 and over, it's a great way for little kids who don't have a phone or don't know how to text to keep in touch with their friends. Strangers can text you, but now it lets you choose whether or not you open the conversation, like it will actually tell you a new person has messaged you and give you the option whether to talk to them.
If your kid is trustworthy and won't text random people or give out private info, it's a good starter texter app for ages 10 and up. Teen, 13 years old Written by Jenniferamkarlsson January 20, It's actually a good app, it doesn't cost any thing so it's way cheaper than texting.
If your kid is smart enough not to chat with strangers it will be just fine, I've blocked strangers on kik that is a thing you can do if you find strangers trying to chat with you creepy, I recommend that and I just text my friends, there is no harm in this app if you're smart. Teen, 14 years old Written by hardycha7 January 12, Review on KIK I just wanted to say to parents that kik is a really good apps for kids that are responsible like me. If you don't want your child to get explicit pics or messages don't use oink to text random people.
If you want to moinitor them get app lock which is an app where you can put in your password for the app to unlock it. The only way kik can get out of hand is if your child allows it to do so. They can block people who haress them and report them to kik which takes these problems very seriously because my friend was being bullied on kik and she reported the people a couple of times and kik deleted their .
Just as long as your kids don't give out their kik to the public and keep it between their friends they should not receive anything alarming.Kik number game dirty
